Dear Bariatric Surgery Section Members,
We had a great meeting during Obesity 2009, The 27th Annual Scientific Meeting of The Obesity Society in Washington, DC, on October 25, 2009.
Dr. Leslie Heinberg has been appointed Secretary of the section. The leadership of the section for 2009-2010 is:
Chair: Phil Schauer, MD - Cleveland Clinic
Chair-Elect: Adrienne Youdim, MD - Cedars-Sinai Health System
Secretary: Leslie Heinberg, PhD - Cleveland Clinic
The following goals were identified during the meeting:

We are in the midst of submitting an online survey to our membership to help in better identifying goals/needs of the group as well as identifying individuals interested in increased involvement on various sub-committees.

Obesity Week 2013 Combined Symposia Development

Better use of electronic resources to increase communication, cohesion and involvement of the section. This would include quarterly email newsletters, but could also include: website bulletin board, list-serv, and links to our department's web-based journal club.

Our section was particularly interested in greater involvement in program/meeting planning for the 2010 TOS meeting. Other related goals include co-sponsored symposia with ASMBS and working to update the TOS/ASMBS/ACE guidelines
- Contribute questions for the COMP exam
To better serve our members and to identify how this section can best identify and achieve its goals, we'd like your input. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey below by Friday, April 2, 2010. Survey results will be made availabe in the next newsletter.
