Volunteer Coordinator - Part Time

We are seeking a part-time Volunteer Coordinator. In this role you will be the staff liaison to 11 Special Interest Sections within our membership. Each Section is autonomous but still conforms to certain standards set by the organization. The Volunteer Coordinator provides guidance to Section leadership, manages their initiatives throughout the year and provides administrative and logistical support for their activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has strong communication skills, enjoys collaborating with others and is detail oriented.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and disseminate quarterly newsletters, annual surveys and periodic eblasts
  • Solicit and edit content for Society newsletter, website and annual program materials
  • Maintain accurate membership database for Section members
  • Manage Section elections/appointments of new leadership
  • Manage Social Community
  • Schedule and participate on conference calls
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for Section fundraising efforts
  • Keep accounting of Section revenue and expenses
  • Manage events that take place during the annual meeting

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a non-profit organization working closely with volunteers
  • Ability to create and implement processes to coordinate communication and volunteer support for 11 Sections
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent volunteer relations skills
  • Ability to prioritize and focus on multiple tasks during peak periods
  • Ability to work well under pressure during peak periods
  • Organization and self-motivation
  • Desire to work as a team member in a small-staff setting
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience in operating database management programs, such as Memberclicks

Our organization

Our organization represents 2,300 scientists and doctors. We have a small staff of 10 who work exceptionally well together. The culture of our office is open and easy-going but everyone works to meet their own high personal standards. Our volunteer leaders are genuinely good people and easy to work with.
