2007 Annual Scientific Meeting Information
Over 2000 delegates attended The Obesity Society's 2007 Annual Scientific
Meeting. Based on preliminary meeting and session evaluations, the meeting
was a huge success.
NOTE TO ATTENDEES ABOUT MEETING EVALUATIONS - The online meeting evaluation
site will remain open until January 31, 2008. You must complete this
evaluation in order to receive CME/CPE/CEU credit. Even if you don't need
a certificate of attendance, the Annual Meeting Program Committee is still
interested in hearing your thoughts on this year's meeting.
To complete your meeting evaluation, got to the
2007 Annual
Meeting Evaluation Website. You'll need your meeting badge number in order
to gain access to the system. If you've forgotten your badge number or
have problems completing your evaluation, call The Obesity Society at
301-563-6526.

Recorded sessions from the meeting will be available for viewing on our
online Live Learning Center in

At The Obesity Society's 2007 Annual Scientific Meeting, 2038
professional attendees celebrated all that is New Orleans and heard
cutting-edge presentations on the very latest basic, clinical, and
epidemiological research in this field. It was the event of the year for obesity professionals.
In addition to oral and poster presentations, attendees heard from
world-renowned leaders in the field of obesity. Sessions were
presented in five thematic tracks:
- Cell and Molecular Biology
- Integrative Biology
- Clinical Studies
- Population Studies
- Clinical/Professional Practice*
*(new in 2007)

Features that were new for 2007!
In response to suggestions from past attendees, we've added several
important features for 2007.
- Reciprocal membership registration rates for members of the
American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (formerly the
American Society of Bariatric Surgeons) - If you are a member of ASMBS,
you were able to register for the 2007 Annual Scientific Meeting at the Obesity
Society members rates.
- "Taste of New Orleans" included with registration -
Attendees sampled
the fabulous and distinct tastes of New Orleans. This event takes the place of the traditional Gala,
and was included in the cost of registration.
- Lunches included with registration - In addition to the "Taste of
New Orleans" celebration, registration fee included lunches
during the meeting. This included attendees' choice of one of the
popular specialty section luncheons on Monday afternoon.
- Plenary oral abstract session - The meeting opened on Sunday
with a plenary oral abstract session featuring the presentation of the
best abstracts from those submitted. Attendees were the first
to hear the very latest research findings in the study of obesity and
its related disorders, before they were heard on radio or television
or made the Monday morning editions of major newspapers.
- Expanded offerings from The Obesity Society's Live Learning Center
- Annual Scientific Meeting attendees will again have access to selected
education sessions recorded during the meeting, and are also able to
view the abstracts online. In addition to the online streaming
formats offered in past years, the recorded proceedings will also be
made available on other downloadable formats, such as Flash files and
podcasts.
- Online evaluation system - A new addition to the Live Learning
Center this year, attendees can go online until December 31, 2007 and
complete their evaluations of the overall meeting and the sessions
they attended. After doing so, they can immediately print out their
CME/CPE/CEU certificates.
