Request for Application

The Obesity Society announces a request for proposals in application for a research grant sponsored by the Egg Nutrition Center.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Member of The Obesity Society (domestic or international)
  • Applications from post-doctoral research fellows must have a mentor who is a current TOS member. (The principal investigator and the mentor must both be members in good standing of The Obesity Society at the time the application is submitted.)

Type of research eligible for award: Studies designed to look at the impact of macronutrient composition on overweight and obesity related conditions (i.e., insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, etc.) will be given top priority.

Focus of research proposals:

Potential questions might include, but are not limited to, such topics as:

  • What is the effect of diets differing in macronutrient composition on obesity-related conditions (i.e., insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, elevated blood pressure)?
  • What is the effect of protein quality on obesity-related conditions?
  • What are the associations between dietary protein intake (or egg intake) and disease risks (e.g., obesity, waist circumference, low HDL-C, etc.) in the context of different background diets?

Available funding: One grant will be funded for $40,000 for a period of 1 year.

Application procedure – Two-step review process
The Obesity Society's Scientific Review Committee will vet all study proposals for scientific merit prior to selecting the grant recipient.
