The Institute for Prevention Research (IPR) and the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Southern California invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the assistant professor rank.
The Institute includes faculty who conduct research on disease prevention with particular emphasis on risk behaviors among adolescents including substance use, sedentary lifestyle and obesity. IPR is well known for the conduct of large school based field trials. In addition, the academic programs include degrees at the bachelors, masters and doctoral level.
IPR seeks an entry-level faculty member with a research focuses on the role of neurocognition in the development and maintenance of multiple health behaviors including, but not limited to, obesity, substance abuse, and conduct problems in childhood and adolescence.
The successful application should have experience in the development and conduct of field trials among either in school of community settings. The successful applicant must show evidence of potential to apply neurocognitive models to public health interventions for young people. The successful applicant should have an interest in conducting research that might include exploring the biological basis of cognition and habituation possibly using neuro-imaging. Applicants must also have a commitment to quality teaching and mentoring at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Review of applicants will begin on May 31 and continue until the candidate is selected. Applicants must submit curriculum vitae, three letters of reference, representative publications or preprints, and statements of research and teaching interests.
