Research Leader

Description
The Research Leader will be responsible for leading a group of scientists dedicated to innovative drug discovery research in the Metabolic area (Diabetes, Renal, and Dyslipidemia/Atherosclerosis). The candidate will champion new ideas and concepts, leading implementation throughout the value chain and ensuring the management of research studies aimed at novel and differentiated pharmaceutical products. He/she will also lead the profiling and differentiation studies for advanced programs (Phase I-III).

In addition, the incumbent will collaborate with the Section Head and contribute in directing drug discovery research for the Metabolic Disease Area, particularly in closely working with colleagues across the global discovery and development organization to ensure integrated implementation of the global research strategy, interfacing with translational medicine leaders and biomarkers scientists to design translational studies for proof of concept in man, and elaborating the overall short and long-term strategies for the discovery organization.

Requirements
The successful candidate will be a PhD and/or MD biologist, physiologist or pharmacologist, with ten years of experience in Metabolic Diseases. He/she should have demonstrated scientific authority, supported by a relevant publication record. Experience establishing and leading cross-functional teams and research projects (academic and/or Pharmacology related) is essential. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented/matrix environment are necessary. Preference will be given to a successful track record in Diabetes with relevant exposure in Dyslipidemia/Atherosclerosis or Renal.
