Assistant/Associate Professor of Kinesiology/Metabolic Biology/ Health & Exercise Pyschology

The Department of Kinesiology at Arizona State University (ASU) and the Mayo / ASU Center for Metabolic and Vascular Biology invites applications for an outstanding tenure / tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Department of Kinesiology is a top 10 ranked department with faculty research programs in exercise physiology / biochemistry, motor behavior/neuroscience, and biomechanics. The Mayo / ASU Center for Metabolic and Vascular Biology is a transdisciplinary inter-institutional research center whose mission is to understand the pathogenesis and consequences of obesity-related diseases through clinical and basic science collaborations in the areas of: cellular signaling, mitochondrial biogenesis, skeletal muscle structure and function, adipose tissue biology, protein metabolism, and macrophage function related to inflammation and insulin resistance. This position will have an academic home in the Department of Kinesiology and a research home in the Mayo/ASU Center for Metabolic and Vascular Biology in which fully staffed Clinical Research Units are available with excellent laboratory resources and opportunities for clinical collaborations.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in the area of public health, exercise science, kinesiology, health / behavioral psychology, preventive medicine, or a related field with a track record of peer-reviewed publications and the potential for obtaining extramural funding. The  ideal candidate will develop and lead a translational research program in an area related to obesity, weight-management, health behavior change, or health promotion. Candidates whose research examines health disparities in racial/ethnic populations or culturally-informed lifestyle interventions in under-served populations are encouraged to apply. However, this position is open to candidates who can demonstrate a sustained research program congruent with the Department of Kinesiology or the Mayo/ASU Center for Metabolic and Vascular Biology.
