The Obesity Society is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) professional membership organization. We are the leading scientific society dedicated to the study of obesity. Since 1982, The Obesity Society has been committed to encouraging research on the causes and treatment of obesity, and to keeping the medical community and public informed of new advances.
The Obesity Society's membership reaches more than 2,000 basic and clinical researchers, who have published extensively, and care providers in obesity treatment and prevention.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Education Manager works with the Director of Education to manage the CME and non-CME educational programs of the society. This includes the development and implementation of the annual scientific meeting and on-line CME programs. The Education Manager also maintains The Obesity Society’s compliance with ACCME standards and ensures accurate ACCME Accreditation record maintenance. He/she will assist the Director of Education with developing additional services and programs as assigned.
This position requires coordination with other internal departments. Duties also include serving as the staff liaison to volunteer committees, communicating with committee members, drafting meeting minutes and agendas, developing evaluation surveys, and documenting needs assessment data from a variety of scientific sources.
This ideal candidate will be a creative, organized, self-motivated and highly experienced in technology and online applications. This individual will work well as a team member in a fast-paced environment, which necessitates superior multi-tasking and time-management skill sets.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess a Bachelor’s degree with over five years experience, preferably in the non-profit/association sector; an in-depth understanding of educational programming, familiarity with hotel specifications; ability to work with minimal supervision; strong written and verbal communication skills, and a professional demeanor and experience with volunteers, vendors and committees. Must be flexible, cooperative, and customer focused, with excellent telephone and email etiquette.
SPECIFIC SKILLS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Knowledge of healthcare field and terminology preferred.
- 2-3 years experience in a CME environment.
- 3-5 years experience in developing medical education programs for virtual delivery.
- Understanding of Internet and Web page operations.
- Familiar with database environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and participate in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to use content management system and Web-related technologies.
- Ability to analyze data and plan work schedules to meet customer needs.
- Highly proficient in MS Office, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
