Jointly sponsored by Postgraduate Institute for Medicine and Global Directions in Medicine
This activity is supported by an educational grant from Novo Nordisk Inc.

Over the last decade, the escalation in diabetes cases has paralleled the rapid increase in obesity rates, constituting a global health crisis. The adipocyte has emerged as an active endocrine cell, both synthesizing and being the target of hormones and other bioactive factors. The interplay between genetics and socioeconomic demographics have confounded approaches to prevention and treatment of both diabetes and obesity. This continuing education program will enhance participants understanding of the interplay between the gut, brain, and fat cells, as well as the research and unmet medical needs and prevention of the interrelated conditions of diabetes and obesity.
