World’s Largest Event on Obesity Treatment & Prevention – ObesityWeekSM 2013
Inaugural Conference Takes Place Nov. 11-16, 2013, in Atlanta, Georgia
SILVER SPRING, MD – Twenty-thirteen has been an exciting year for obesity research and treatment. The American Medical Association classified obesity as a disease, legislation to expand coverage of obesity treatments is moving forward in Washington, and The Obesity Society (TOS) launched a new campaign, Treat Obesity Seriously, to give healthcare providers tools and information to start conversations with patients about their weight.
Closing out the year with a bang, TOS and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) will host the world’s pre-eminent conference on obesity, ObesityWeekSM 2013, Nov. 11-16, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. For the first time, both organizations will have their respective annual scientific meetings under one roof to unveil exciting new research, discuss emerging treatment and prevention options, and network and present with leaders in the field.
WHO: The Obesity Society (TOS), the leading professional society dedicated to better understanding, preventing and treating obesity, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the largest organization for bariatric and metabolic surgeons and integrated health professionals in the world, host ObesityWeekSM 2013. The conference is expected to attract more than 4,000 international scientists, clinicians, surgeons and policymakers, as well as many others with an interest in obesity science and treatment.
