NAASO announces a new educational program designed to assist physicians as they face the emerging epidemic of obesity. This is the first course in what is to become a full library of free Continuing Medical Education courses. All of these programs are offered via our Web site and can be accessed from the convenience of your own office.

This program is designed by the continent's oldest professional obesity organization. Our first on-line CME course, Office Management of Obesity, is now available 24 hours a day. The course includes easy-to-follow diets, counseling suggestions, and physical activity guidelines. It also contains information on managing patients in an office setting, treatment algorithms and practical information concerning reimbursement. Course participants are free to bookmark their place and return to the course at anytime

This course, Office Management of Obesity, is made possible with an unrestricted educational grant from Abbott Laboratories.

More exciting educational programs are currently in development. All NAASO educational programs are a service of NAASO's Obesity Treatment Educational System (NOTES). Check our Website often to keep up to date with NAASO's programs, services and activities.

Case-Study of the Month: A Call for Submissions

We are initiating "Case-Study of the Month", a new feature for the online NAASO publication "Obesity". You are invited to send obesity-related unique / peculiar cases encountered during the treatment of obesity. We wish to tap in to the vast expertise and knowledge acquired by clinicians steeped in obesity treatment, who are not conducting conventional research.

Researchers unable to publish a particular observation as a manuscript due to the anecdotal nature of the case are invited to submit case reports. This information sharing is expected to increase the dialogue among the membership and promote future collaborative projects, leading to the advancement of knowledge in the field.

Please send your submissions electronically to ndhurand@sun.science.wayne.edu. The submission should be sent as a Microsoft Word document and should not be longer than 500 words. Nikhil Dhurandhar, PhD, is the Editor of the "Case-Study of the Month" section. Submissions will be reviewed and the editor's decision will be final. Accepted case reports will be published in "Obesity", the new bimonthly online publication of NAASO.
