NAASO
Members receive a substantial discount on
Annual Meeting Registration. Register by October 22 to
take advantage of cost saving rates. The last day
to request housing is October 15. Caesar's
Palace offers meeting attendees reasonably priced
room rates at
$169 per

Opening Session and Grand Opening
Reception
The 2004 NAASO Annual Meeting commences with
the Opening Session on Sunday, November 14 at
6:00 pm immediately followed by the Grand
Opening
Reception in the Exhibit Hall. Join NAASO President,
Dr. Barbara E. Corkey, PhD, for welcoming remarks.
NAASO's special guest is Carmine Famiglietti,
Producer, Screenwriter and Actor. Mr.
Famiglietti will
talk about the making of his unique film Lbs.
NAASO Film Festival
NAASO will host a mini Film Festival on Monday
and
Wednesday evening, November 15 and 17 at 7:00
pm.
Monday evening will feature the movie Lbs.
Carmine Famiglietti will make a personal appearance
to informally
discuss the making of this unique movie which details
one man's emotional and physical battle with the
addiction of overeating. Famiglietti lost 170 pounds
during the making of this film.
Wednesday evening's screening will feature another
hit film. Come join us for a casual, relaxing night at
the movies on Monday, Wednesday or both evenings!
NAASO GALA - Costumes Recommended
Join us for the NAASO Gala, Tuesday, November
16th, 7:00 pm - midnight. Tickets are $65 per
person and can be purchased at the registration
desk. Dine and dance the
night away with your colleagues and friends and
enjoy a musical tribute covering several eras - Las
Vegas style! Costumes are highly encouraged! Come
dressed to represent your favorite decade of music.

and Dr. Julio A. Montero. Learn about Latin American

Hot Topic Abstract Submission Deadline Near |

NAASO is now accepting Hot Topic
Abstracts for
presentation at the 2004 Annual Scientific Meeting.
Deadline: September 24,
2004,
11:00 pm, Eastern Standard Time. Submission
fee:
$50.00.
Hot Topic Abstracts will only be accepted
electronically as an MS Word document
attachment.
Hot Topics represent late breaking science and are
based on data not available prior to June 25, 2004.
Abstracts are not eligible if the paper has been
presented at another national or international
meeting or will be published prior to the NAASO
Annual Meeting. Authors are not required to be
members of NAASO. There is no limit to the number
of abstracts an author may submit. However, an
author of an abstract may appear as the lead author
on only two abstract submissions.
Abstracts must be limited to
2,325 characters (including spaces). The
standard for acceptance is
much higher for these abstracts than for abstracts
submitted prior to June 25. All abstracts submitted to
the North American Association for the Study of
Obesity are peer-reviewed through a blinded review
process. Originality of work, adequacy of data, and
clarity of exposition are the determinants in the
selection of abstracts. Accepted abstracts will be
presented as posters. Abstracts will not be published
in the October Obesity Research Annual Meeting
Abstract Supplement but may be published at a
later
date.
Deadline for
submission: September 24,
11:00
PM, Eastern. Submission fee: $50.00.
Only the
corresponding author can withdraw or receive
information on an abstract. Expenses associated with
the submission and presentation of the abstract are
the responsibility of the presenter. Presenters must
pay the registration fee for attendance at the
meeting. Presenters will be able to register at pre-
registration rates. If you no longer plan to attend the
meeting because your abstract was not accepted for
presentation, your registration fee will be refunded
upon request. A letter of notification and
appropriate accompanying materials will be mailed
only to the Corresponding Author by the middle of
October 2004. Please e-mail your abstract as an
