Obesity

(Term: January 1, 2013 – December 31, 2016) 

 

The Obesity Society (TOS) announces the search for the position of Editor-in-Chief (EIC), ObesityObesity is the flagship scientific journal of The Obesity Society. Available in print and online, Obesity publishes important peer-reviewed basic, clinical and public health research, cutting-edge reviews, and commentaries.

Candidates should have a PhD and/or MD and a history of active research, publications, and evidence of international recognition in their research field. Preference will be given to candidates with a wide breadth of knowledge in the field, ranging from basic science (including molecular biology, genetics and neuroscience) to human studies in areas such as adiposity, energy balance, obesity treatment, health services, pediatric obesity, and policy.  Background must reflect high standards in research and publication, demonstrated ability to meet commitments, good organization and managerial capabilities, strong people skills, and the ability to make difficult decisions.  Prior participation in TOS activities would be perceived favorably, but is not a requirement. Applicants must be or must become a TOS member during the term of appointment.  The EIC receives an annual stipend in recognition of his/her services.

The EIC will work closely with a team that includes the Managing Editor and other editorial staff, Associate Editors, Editorial Board, and publisher. For a detailed description of the EIC responsibilities, refer to:   Position Responsibilities

Interested individuals should submit a CV and a cover letter that includes a description of the candidat's vision for the journal, a list of 3-5 of his/her most relevant publicstions for the position and 3 references.
