Q: What is your title and organizational affiliation?

A: I am the Professor and Director of the Human Nutrition and Metabolism Laboratory, Health and Exercise Sciences Department, at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.

 

Q: Please tell us about your current work and your professional developmental trajectory.

A: I specialize in sport performance nutrition and bioenergetics, exercise training, obesity and disease prevention, focusing on optimal health paradigms of healthy nutrition and exercise interventions. I am most interested in lifestyle strategies of diet and exercise to enhance physical performance and overall health.

 

Q: What is one of your professional or personal qualities that has contributed to your success?

A: Enjoyment.

 

Q: What advice do you have for today's junior obesity researchers?

A: Enjoy the personal interaction with your colleagues and your study participants. Love the process and joy of learning.

 

Q: What aspects of obesity research are the most exciting to you right now?

A: I am interested in the synergy of nutrition and exercise intervention lifestyles to prevent and treat obesity.

 

Q: What are your favorite things to do when you're not at work?

A: I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing tennis and writing.
