2011 Call for Committee Appointments

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The Obesity Society has several committees to assist the Council in planning and administering the programs and activities of the Society.  Filling committee vacancies is a very important function for our Society.  Committees (standing and ad hoc) have responsibility for studying issues, making recommendations, carrying out liaison activities, and implementing specific short-term projects approved by the Council.

The Council urges interested members to volunteer and appreciates your assistance in this effort to increase the effectiveness and productivity of the Society's committees.

In our continued efforts to foster the next generation of leaders of The Obesity Society, we are pleased to announce that student/resident/post-doc members are invited to submit an application for appointment to a committee with the exception of the Awards, Nominating, and Scientific Review Committees.  One student/resident/post-doc will be appointed to each committee.   The Committee Volunteer Permission Form from the student/resident/post-doc's institution must accompany the application granting permission to serve.

Please note that, at a minimum, committees meet each year during the Annual Scientific Meeting and committee members attend this meeting at their own expense.  Acceptance of appointment implies a commitment to attend these meetings.  Committee terms are 2-3 years.
