Abstract Submission Site is Open

Letter from the Program Committee Chairs

Dear Colleagues,

It’s time to submit your abstracts for oral and poster presentation at The Obesity Society Annual Meeting at ObesityWeekSM 2014! The abstract submission site opens tomorrow, May 1, and we’ll be accepting your submissions through June 2 of this year.

Each year, The Obesity Society annual scientific meeting highlights cutting-edge findings across a broad range of topics from the basic science of obesity to treatment and prevention that will ultimately help improve the lives of those affected. Without fail, research coming out of the meeting is covered in high-profile media outlets, such as USA Today, and is recognized by state and federal government organizations, such as the National Institutes of Health.

Since this year’s meeting will be held in Boston, Mass., there is a unique opportunity to reach key players headquartered in the city, including influential researchers at leading educational and research institutions in the Boston area. Also headquartered in the city are several pharmaceutical companies leading the charge to improve medical treatment options for obesity and overweight.

You won’t want to miss out on this prestigious opportunity to present your research to your esteemed colleagues, Industry, the news media, state and federal health authorities and the public.

In the second year of ObesityWeek, TOS continues our collaboration with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) for twice the number of program attendees and a broader impact of the science presented at the meeting. As you plan to submit your abstracts, please keep in mind that the TOS abstract submissions are separate from the abstracts submitted as part of the ASMBS annual meeting at ObesityWeek.

Here’s a brief refresher on what you need to submit your abstract(s):

  • 1,850-character (or 250-word) abstract
  • Abstract title
  • Track selection (choose one of the following five)
    1. Metabolism and Integrative Physiology
    2. Neuroscience
    3. Intervention and Clinical Studies
    4. Population Health
    5. Policy
  • Names and email addresses of your and your co-authors’ institutions and affiliations
  • Authors
  • Keywords (one must be provided, but you can choose up to three)
  • Submission fee of $65 (by credit card)

Please also keep in mind that financial disclosures are required of all authors and co-authors submitting research, and registration to ObesityWeek must be made separately via the registration site to attend and present your findings. The registration site will be opening soon!

You can find a full list of instructions for submitting your abstracts here, and the submission site here.

We thank you in advance for submitting your best science to TOS’s annual meeting at ObesityWeek 2014. Your involvement will make this meeting a tremendous success!
