Dear Colleagues,

Although were still four months away from ObesityWeekSM, by now, many of you have submitted your research to the conference and are standing by eager to confirm your registration for the leading event in the obesity field.

Last years inaugural ObesityWeek was quite a hit, but 2014 is sure to be an even more exciting event with a record-breaking number of scientific abstracts submitted to TOS (989) and ASMBS (400) annual meetings – for a grand total of nearly 1,400 abstracts! Late-breaking submissions will likely bring us over the 1500 mark, clearly setting the stage for one of the most exciting, and impactful obesity research and clinical care meetings of 2014.

If you attended last year, youll remember the superior attendance at the poster sessions, which are scheduled at a special time as not to conflict with other meeting events and sessions. Further, well offer a cash bar during the evening time block. And, you wont have to worry about missing out on the research if youre not able to make one of the sessions – all posters will be displayed throughout the conference, starting on Tuesday, Nov. 4 through Friday, Nov. 7.

While you wait to hear about the science which will be presented in poster and oral presentations, you can get started planning your schedule for various sessions and forums now in the online, interactive schedule. The events and activities are color-coded so you can easily distinguish between TOS, ASMBS and combined events, which will continually be updated as new information is available. There are more than 100 sessions for you to choose from. Registration is expected to open next week, and planning ahead can give you a head start on learning about the sessions and symposia open to attendees.

More details regarding speakers and poster presentations will be posted as soon as they available, and there are lots of ways to keep in touch. Make sure to stay up on the latest by finding, following and sharing about #OW2014 on social media via Twitter: @ObesityWeek, @ObesitySociety, @ASMBS; and Facebook: @The Obesity Society and @ASMBS. Youll also want to keep an eye out for the redesigned ObesityWeek 2014 mobile app — launching in early Fall.

I hope youll support the research, treatment and prevention of obesity by spreading the word about ObesityWeek 2014!
