Childhood Obesity Resource Guide
This project was made possible through a grant from Covidien. The Obesity Society partnered with the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) to develop a resource that would provide the basis for a toolkit for Community Health Centers (CHCs) with information on childhood obesity treatment and prevention for providers, patients, families, and community stakeholders. This is the Beta version of the kit that will be used to evaluate its effectiveness in the community and in selected Community Health Centers.

Annual Meeting
The Obesity Society is committed to encouraging research on the causes, treatment, and prevention of obesity as well as keeping the scientific community informed of new advances in the field.
The Annual Scientific Meeting of The Obesity Society, brings together professionals in the field of obesity, from world-renowned basic and clinical researchers to educators, advocates, and practitioners. Attendees will find scientific and education sessions, oral and poster presentations and other programs covering the full interdisciplinary regimen of obesity research, education, advocacy and development, including key lectures from the top professionals in each field. Last year, Track 2 has been renamed “Neuroscience and Integrative Biology of Obesity” to reflect the new and exciting advances in the neuroscience field. Track 1 has been renamed “Molecular Mechanisms of Obesity” to best reflect the focus of these sessions. The program is organized around five thematic tracks:
- Molecular Mechanisms of Obesity
- Neuroscience and Integrative Biology of Obesity
- Clinical Studies
- Population Studies
- Clinical/Professional Practice
Many of the programs and sessions at the meeting allow for an atmosphere of productive networking. Junior investigators are provided many opportunities to network with senior leaders (members and nonmembers), whether this is participating as a co-chair during the oral presentations or attending one of the more direct mentoring sessions during the meeting.
The program committee is currrently putting together the preliminary program for Obesity 2011 and this will will made available online as soon as feasible.

Sections
The Obesity Society supports any group of members with similar interests, expertise or educational backgrounds that work together to develop goals which advance the Society's strategic plan. These groups are known as Sections and are self-defined, and share a common interest. Sections develop their own leadership and represent the interests of the group before the organization as a whole.
Members of The Obesity Society may join any Section and participate in the Section activities which are developed during the annual meeting and held throughout the year.
