The Challenges We Face: Obesity affects more than one billion people worldwide, contributing to an ever-increasing risk of cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, diabetes, and other related comorbidities. It is therefore incumbent upon healthcare providers across the globe to recognize obesity as a chronic, progressive disease and to provide compassionate, comprehensive care that improves the health and quality of life of those affected.

The target audience for this program includes health care providers (HCPs) who provide primary care to patients with obesity, as well as relevant specialist clinicians significantly involved in the management and treatment of obesity. These educational activities are intended for international healthcare professionals outside the US and the UK.

On-Demand Activities:

  1. Transforming Obesity Management Globally – Clinical Perspectives
  2. Description:This CME activity will enable primary care providers and relevant specialists with the knowledge and skills to address obesity as a chronic, relapsing disease. Participants will learn about the distinct pathophysiology of obesity that contributes to cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic risk factors, disease, and complications. Expert faculty taught participants how to accurately diagnose and document obesity and foster patient engagement through respectful, nonstigmatizing communication. Finally, the program covered evidence-based strategies for comprehensive obesity management, including nutrition and physical activity counseling, behavioral therapy, pharmacologic interventions, and—when appropriate—metabolic and bariatric surgery.

  3. Transforming Obesity Management Globally – Expert Roundtable
  4. Description:Obesity has reached epidemic proportions globally, posing significant health risks. Despite this growing crisis, healthcare professionals often lack the comprehensive training, resources, and interdisciplinary support necessary to effectively manage obesity in diverse patient populations. To address these critical gaps, a global initiative must be established to develop and implement comprehensive educational frameworks, facilitate knowledge sharing, and advocate for policy changes that promote effective obesity management practices worldwide. To support this effort, an international expert roundtable was streamed live after ObesityWeek® 2025 that addressed the state of obesity and its management worldwide.
