Pennington Biomedical Research Center

Description:

Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Roadmap Scholar for mentored development towards independence in the Louisiana Clinical and Translational Science (LA CaTS) Center.

Applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service. Duties include:

1. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, face-to-face and online.

2. Mentor MS and PhD students and assist in recruitment of graduate students.

3. Develop and maintain a high impact scholarly research program in community nutrition, public health, or a related area, via publications and external funding.

4. Develop research collaboration both within and across disciplines in order to develop interdisciplinary research teams.

5. Engage in outreach activities and perform service to the department, college, university, and the profession including involvement and leadership in professional associations.

Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in community nutrition, public health, dietetics, or related disciplines. Demonstrated records of effective teaching at the college level, receiving extramural research grants and peer-reviewed publications, all commensurate with rank are also required. In addition, a demonstrated record of collaborative research projects in community nutrition or public health is also needed.

The ideal candidate will be interested in any of the following areas related to the study of the disease of obesity: 1.) energy expenditure regulation, 2.) appetite and satiety hormones, 3.) ‘omics’ – metabolomics, proteomics, genomics, 4.) anti-obesity medications, 5.) bariatric surgery.
