Rockville, MD – July 14, 2026 — The Obesity Society (TOS) has announced the appointment of Leanne Redman, MS, PhD, FTOS, as editor-in-chief of Obesity, its official journal. Obesity is a premier peer-reviewed journal that publishes innovative research and timely scientific developments across the spectrum of obesity science, helping to advance understanding, prevention, and treatment of obesity worldwide.
As an internationally recognized obesity researcher, Dr. Redman has authored more than 300 scientific publications. She has led numerous federally funded clinical research studies focused on understanding the biological mechanisms of obesity and developing effective interventions to improve health outcomes.
“I am honored to serve as editor-in-chief of Obesity and to continue working with the journal’s outstanding editorial team, reviewers, authors, and readers,” said Dr. Redman. “The field of obesity science is evolving rapidly, and Obesity plays a critical role in advancing research, fostering innovation, and translating discoveries into meaningful improvements in health. I look forward to building on the journal’s strong foundation and supporting the next generation of scientific contributions.”
Dr. Redman served as acting editor-in-chief for the journal over the past 11 months, providing leadership and editorial oversight during a period of continued growth and scientific advancement in obesity research.
